A global financial services company required a robust solution to identify areas of technical debt that also carried associated security risks. The need was to visualize and manage technical debt efficiently to prioritize updates and mitigate security vulnerabilities effectively.
Solution
Built developed a comprehensive solution leveraging PowerBI for visualization, integrated with data from the client’s Enterprise Architecture tool and their Configuration Management Database (CMDB) managed in ServiceNow. This setup enabled a dynamic PowerBI dashboard that provides an immediate overview of technical debt, with detailed drill-down capabilities to inspect components flagged as obsolete or becoming obsolescent.
Results
The implementation of the Technical Debt Management Dashboard allows the client to effectively expose and manage technical debt across its infrastructure. This visibility empowers the executive team to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation for addressing critical updates, thereby reducing security risks and improving operational stability.
